Women’s Festival 40th Anniversary Celebration
May 17 to 18, 2024 | Charlottetown, PEI
The Women’s Network is marking its 40th anniversary since incorporation by reviving the PEI Women’s Festival on May 17 at 6 pm and May 18 all day at the Delta Hotel in Charlottetown. Funded in part by the Interministerial Women’s Secretariat, this event will bring together community members to learn, connect, and honour change makers and activists from the past 40 years. The festival will include a look back at past festivals as well as the feminist movement in PEI. There will also be workshops, panel discussions, and performances. Both evenings will be licensed events. The overall event is open to women and non binary adults aged 18+. Limited tickets available.

Emera Bluenose Marathon

Blue Nose Marathon was born and bred by Nova Scotians in 2004 – taking place in the City of Halifax. Blue Nose was founded in 2004 by community leaders Gerry Walsh and Rod McCulloch, who dreamed of a world-class running event that would showcase the beauty of Halifax and Dartmouth. “In the first year, we had 3,500 registrants – and we thought that was pretty good,” said Walsh. “Little did we know that Blue Nose would experience double-digit growth in most years, reaching 13,000 in 2014.”

Big Wolf’s Backyard Ultra Edmundston (Silver Ticket)

Held in the splendid Edmundston region, New Brunswick Backyard Ultra will be run in a magnificent environment. This challenge is described as one of the most mentally and strategically grueling races in the world. Contestants run a 4.1 mile loop every hour, all day, all night, nonstop. The Big Backyard will continue until but one man is left standing… no matter how long it takes. The last man or woman standing is crowned the victor.

Akadi Lumina

The Pays de la Sagouine enchanting Lumina Night Walk is inspired by Acadian culture, stories and the region’s iconic landscapes. This 60 to 90 minutes light and sound experience happens after nightfall along a 1.5-km footpath in the woods near the Pays de la Sagouine, and is inclusive of all in both English and French.
