Recall Alert: Quaker Cereals and Bars Tops List, Plus Eagle Brand Corn, Volvo and Children’s Medications

This week’s recall alert covers a variety of consumer products, including a popular cereal bar, corn, Ford trucks, plus children’s medication and bike helmet.

Quaker Canada is voluntary recalling 38 varieties of granola bars and Harvest Crunch cereals due to the potential exposure to salmonella.

The company said the recall was a direct result of one initiated Thursday in the United States by the Quaker Oats Company.

Pediatrix Acetaminophen Oral Solution for children: One lot recalled due to potential risk of overdose

Teva Canada Ltd. is recalling one lot of Pediatrix Acetaminophen Oral Solution after routine product testing found a higher than acceptable amount of acetaminophen in the affected lot (approximately 185mg/5mL rather than the approved and labelled 160mg/5mL). This could lead to children receiving too much acetaminophen. Children may be especially at risk of the effects of acetaminophen overdose given their small size and developing bodies.

Retrospec Scout Bicycle Helmet recalled due to injury hazard

This recall involves kid’s Retrospec Scout model bicycle helmets in size XS and S. The helmets were sold with a green hang tag label listing the name “Retrospec”, the Scout brand name, and the helmet size. The word Retrospec or the Retrospec “R” logo appear on the right side of the helmet. 

The helmet may not protect the child during a fall or crash, posing a risk of a head injury.  

As of December 28, 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injury. In the United States, the company has received no reports of incidents and no reports of injury.
